Remember the white Rolls-Royce “Wraith—Inspired by Fashion” that sashayed down the assembly line (with the help of elegant models) back in May? Meet its inspirational opposite: the new “Wraith—History of Rugby.”
–
Ironically, the Fashion and Rugby cars look nearly identical from 10 yards back—’cuz nothing says “Rugby” like a prissy white Rolls. Although in this case, the white paint is supposed to evoke the white shirts worn at British Rugby School in Warwickshire and by the English Rugby Team today. Upon closer inspection, this particular Wraith also brandishes a dark green pinstripe—about as close to a grass stain as it’ll ever get—and a red-rose emblem on the front fender like that which Rolls-Royce alleges was approved for use on the Rugby School crest by Queen Elizabeth I, who reigned from 1558 until 1603. Five-spoke 21-inch wheels round out the exterior trimmings.

Open the rear-hinged door, and there’s more white—“Seashell,” technically—to behold in the form of leather seat and door trim, offset by navy blue elsewhere and tarted up a bit with red piping and a few more of Queen Lizzie’s roses. Black lacquer dashboard trim and special doorsill plates add still more drama to this Wraith’s cushy confines, and if people still haven’t figured out exactly what this Wraith is paying homage to, you can show them the commemorative rugby ball produced by rugby ball–maker Gilbert that uses the same white and red leather as the car.

The “Wrugby” (our name, not Rolls’) is the latest special creation by Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke team, following the aforementioned Fashion-inspired model as well as the “Wraith—Inspired by Music,” which emerged in the meantime. Want one of your own? Sorry, this car appears to be a one-off, although Rolls-Royce would happily help create one like it should you be, say, a professional English rugby player with a taste for white and roses.
