BMW M6 Coupe Gains Competition Edition

BMW M6 Coupe Gains Competition Edition

BMW M owners are a loyal bunch, and they are known to appreciate the opportunity to plunk down extra cash in exchange for a bit of exclusivity. These buyers will be glad to know that BMW launching a Competition Edition of the M6 this month, coinciding with the debut of the M6 GT3 long-distance race car.

Underscoring its race-inspired styling theme, the M6 Competition Edition is available as a two-door coupe only, and it is based on the Competition Package that raises horsepower from 560 to 600 horsepower, and torque from 502 to 516 lb-ft. Top speed, at least in Europe, is governed at 190 mph instead of the base model’s 155 mph.

Few owners will be able to discern the difference behind the wheel, but BMW has added some distinctive visuals, starting with the M-logo–style light blue, dark blue, and red tri-color stripes. There’s also a blacked-out grille, carbon-fiber mirror caps, dark gray twin-spoke wheels, black window trim and front-fender trim; inside there’s more carbon-fiber trim, and plenty of M6 Competition badging. There is no word yet on the price for this exclusivity.
