Ford has issued a recall for a parking brake that might not fully engage on some 2015–2016 Explorers, as well as 2015 Taurus and Flex models, plus Lincoln MKS sedans and MKT crossovers also from 2015.

The affected vehicles include 2015 and 2016 Explorers built at Ford’s Chicago assembly plant between May 4 and May 23 of this year, as well as 2015 Taurus and MKS models built in Chicago during that same period. Also subject to the recall are 2015 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT crossovers built in Oakville, Ontario, between May 4 and May 23 (Flex) and from May 4 through May 21 (MKT).

A total of 7965 vehicles in North America are part of the recall. Dealers will replace the parking-brake control mechanism. Ford says that, to date, there have been no accidents related to this defect.
