The Denali name already carries with it the implied top-dogness you’d expect being derived from the name of the highest mountain peak in the United States. GMC, though, describes the new-for-2016 Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate as the “pinnacle of premium.” Technically, Denali is the peak—maybe the Denali Ultimate the lookout post perched atop that peak?

A jazzed-up Sierra Denali, the Ultimate wears special 22-inch wheels, a standard sunroof, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, power “Tri-Mode” running boards that can be shifted rearward for reaching the bed more easily, and—this is important—chrome tow hooks. Because nothing encourages (or, rather, discourages) the use of your burly truck’s tow hooks more than slathering them in shiny, easily marred chrome. Ultimate, dude.

Outside of the extra bling, the Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate comes with the same aluminum, leather, and contrast-stitching-rich interior as the regular Denali. That means it’ll be a pretty swell place to pass time. Buyers can choose between the standard 5.3-liter V-8 engine or the optional 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8, but otherwise they’re restricted to a crew cab and one of two bed lengths. Ultimate sales begin early next year.
