There’s something special about vintage sport-utes. In the past we’ve featured classic Jeeps, Broncos, and a bad-ass Dodge Power Wagon. Today, we bring you this beautiful 1967 International Harvester Scout.

The IH Scout was designed at a time when the off-road-vehicle market had yet to mature. Until the Scout’s introduction in 1961, the only such vehicle selling in appreciable volumes was the Willys Jeep, but many of those were purchased as work vehicles. The Scout emerged as a viable Jeep alternative—one IH hoped would have more leisure appeal due to its stylish exterior design.

In 1965, the original Scout was replaced by the revised Scout 800. This example is a Scout 800 “Sportop,” which was especially interesting due to its removable fiberglass hardtop; it also was available with a folding softtop. The seller claims this truck has seen nearly 100K miles, which is impressive considering its very nice condition. Although this truck has a few needs, we can’t balk at the $12,995 asking price. It’s currently a seller’s market for classic off-roaders, and while plenty of Scouts were produced, most saw hard use and there are few survivors—particularly in this nice of a condition.
